Riley Drummond received a bravery award today at Waikawa Bay School in Picton.
In April he dived down to rescue his five year-old sister Ella - who was motionless at the bottom of a public swimming pool.
St John community education head Jacci Tatnell says they're blown away by his actions.
She says children can lead from the front - and he deserved to receive the ASB Super Saver Bravery Award.
St John is on target to have one million children go through a programme by 2023 to help them save lives.
