A warning not to burn rubbish or garden waste during lockdown

There were 20 fire callouts in and around Christchurch yesterday.

Fire South Canterbury Area Manager Steve Greenyer says each callout means fire officers are breaking their bubbles - and a major fire would mix a large number of bubbles.

He says the warning's particularly important today and tomorrow - with strong dry northwesterlies expected for Canterbury.
