The family of missing woman Shirley Warrington is waiting to hear whether a body found on Christchurch's Port Hills is her

A source has told the Herald it's likely to be the 85-year-old who disappeared in July.

Granddaughter Aleisha Hofman has posted on the Search for Shirley Facebook page saying they're still waiting on Police to confirm it's her they've found.

Police say they believe they know the person's identity - but formal identification is ongoing.

They won't be commenting further until this has been completed.
