It's the news no one wanted to hear, but there's hope the detection of Covid-19 in Napier's wastewater will give people a nudge to get the jab

Mayor Kirsten Wise says residents will be concerned but says the region's prepared.

She says the vaccination rate is in the mid to high 60s double jabbed so there's a bit of work to do.

Wise says the detection of Covid-19 in the wastewater may be a wake-up call for some people.

She says it may be the final prompt some people need to go and get vaccinated.
