Three people have died in crashes overnight, including one in Auckland where a vehicle ploughed through a fence and ended up wedged inside a tunnel

Two people died in the Clendon Park crash at the Weymouth and Palmers road intersection around 12.35 this morning.

A man who was at the scene shortly after the crash says it ploughed through a fence and crashed into a tunnel.

The crash occurred just an hour after a single-car crash near Mangawhai in Northland where one person died.

Emergency services were called to the crash on Devich Rd at around 11:35 last night.
