Police want any sightings or dashcam footage of a man walking on Broadlands Road between midnight and 1.30am.

It's been a tragic 24-hours on our roads, after a person died following a crash involving a ute and a milk tanker at Rukuhia, near Hamilton yesterday afternoon.

A motorcyclist also died following a collision with a northbound freight train near Timaru.

The man was on a farm track that intersects with a private level crossing just after 5.30 last night.
