A fish and chip shop in Northland has just become very popular

Twenty two chip lovers from across the country have been recruited by Consumer New Zealand to buy and weigh a scoop of chips.

The average price of a scoop is three dollars 60, with the average weight being 365 grams.

Head of content at Consumer NZ Caitlin Cherry says Moerewa Takeaways in Northland has the best value chips ... three dollars for a half-kilo scoop.

She says since they announced it and told the owner he'd won, he's been inundated with customers ... and says he can't keep up.
