Flooding has closed State Highway 25 in the Coromandel

Simpsons Beach and Wharekaho are cut off from Whitianga, and locals say they've never seen flooding this bad.

Parts of the West Coast are cleaning up from major flooding, after heavy rain,

MetService meteorologist Lewis Ferris says the good news is, the weather conditions should be more settled for the long weekend.

He says the front that moved over the West Coast yesterday, is zipping across the North Island today, before moving away to the east.
