A Whakatane teacher has been censured for serious misconduct after forcing three students at a school camp to strip to their underwear and stand with their noses against a tree

A Whakatane teacher has been censured for serious misconduct after forcing three students at a school camp to strip to their underwear and stand with their noses against a tree

They and other students were also driven to an unknown location and left to walk alone back to the camp at night.

The incidents, involving Whakatane Intermediate teacher Ngamihi Moses, happened at a four-day camp in Otorohanga in November 2019.

The Teachers' Council Disciplinary Tribunal censured Moses, finding her actions were dangerous and could have led to the children being physically harmed.

However, it also took into account her expression of remorse, apologies to the students' parents, and her attendance at a professional development course.
