A public meeting is being held in Auckland today to discuss the North Shore Aero Club's bid for airport authority

A public meeting is being held in Auckland today to discuss the North Shore Aero Club's bid for airport authority

The club - which operates the North Shore Airport in Dairy Flat - lodged an application for airport authority status back in 2020.

It would grant the airport new powers, such as the ability to make bylaws - subject to Government approval.

The airport could also request the council to restrict houses from being built around it - and limit the height of nearby structures.

Transport Minister Michael Wood will speak with members of the community at North Harbour Stadium this morning.
