Queenstown Airport has welcomed the arrival of its first international Air New Zealand flights in almost a year

The planes from Melbourne and Brisbane landed this afternoon.

The airport's general manager of corporate and community Sara Irvine says it's great to have our national carrier return to the trans-Tasman route.

Ms Irvine says the winter ahead is looking positive in terms of visitors, although numbers aren't expected to reach pre-Covid levels this year.
