    Disruptions will continue on State Highway 1 in South Canterbury this afternoon, after a fatal head on crash


    One person died, and another's seriously injured after the fiery crash near Makikihi, about 6am.

    A detour's in place through the Waimate township, but it's not suitable for vehicles over 50 tonnes.

    Heavy vehicle delays are expected to ease from 1pm, when freight will be controlled through State Highway 1.

    Other drivers will still need to divert through Waimate.
