    Cyclone Alfred tracker map: When will it hit south-east Queensland?

    Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred has made landfall on the Queensland coast today, with it expected to move inland more rapidly as it weakens.


    Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred has made landfall, bringing destructive winds and the risk of life-threatening flooding.

    It crossed the mainland coast on Saturday March 8 around 9pm AEST. 

    It is moving westward, where it is expected to weaken inland.  

    At its centre, system is carrying sustained winds of 75 kilometres per hour with wind gusts of up to 110 kilometres per hour, according to the Bureau of Meteorology's 9pm Saturday March 8 AEST update.

    • This map shows a 120-hour forecast for Tropical Cyclone Alfred's path
    • It also shows high wind, cyclone watch and cyclone warning areas
    • Tropical Cyclone Alfred is likely to cross the Queensland coast late Friday or early Saturday morning
    • Strong winds and coastal erosion are forecast as well as large rainfall totals
    • A flood watch has been issued for northern NSW and south-east Queensland is on high alert

    • This map was issued by the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) at 9:48pm AEST on Saturday March 8, 2025.
    • The current warning zone listed by BOM spans from Noosa in Queensland to Ballina in New South Wales including including Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Byron Bay.
    • There is no current watch zone.
    • People between Cape Moreton and Ballina, including the Moreton Bay Islands should remain inside until conditions have eased and listen to the next advice.
    • People between Yamba and Ballina in New South Wales, as well as Brisbane to Double Island Point in Queensland should take precautions and listen to the next advice.
