General practice owners say they're delighted about changes to the funding systems

General practice owners say they're delighted about changes to the funding systems

Health Minister Simeon Brown's announced funding for GP clinics will be better distributed based on the needs of the population.

It means more money will go to providers in rural and deprived areas, and those treating the elderly and people with underlying conditions.

But General Practice Owners Association Chair Angus Chambers says there is a big concern some clinics will get less funding.

However he's hopeful the funding pool will grow before the changes take effect.
