The weather's looking cloudy with a chance of RAIN-deer for most of the country this Christmas

MetService is forecasting rain in the afternoon for the upper North Island, where as lower down the island it's looking sunny and windy.

In the South Island, the West Coast is in for a soggy Christmas, whereas the east coast will be mostly cloudy.

MetService Meteorologist Michael Pawley's given his take for the best places to be for weather this Christmas.

He says for sunshine the east coast of the North Island's looking the best, with lower Canterbury also looking good.
