The Reserve Bank is investigating two banks and an insurer - including TSB Bank

It's looking into compliance with the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering-Financing of Terrorism Act.

Massey University business school director Claire Matthews says the Reserve Bank doesn't take action lightly.

She says banks are expected to comply with the regulations.

She says it's important the Reserve Bank is seen to enforce the regulations, to meet international obligations.
