The housing market's cooling - as winter nears

Latest Real Estate Institute figures show the national median price declined 1.1 percent in April year on year - but sales rose 9.5 percent.

Except for Auckland, the median price stayed unchanged, at 700 thousand dollars.

Acting Chief Executive Rowan Dixon says easing interest rates and job concerns are influencing the market.

He says both will continue to contribute to turnover.
