Meg Stalter shunned the formal dress code and wore jeans to the Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday (14.09.25)

The Hacks actress - whose show was nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series - walked the red carpet at Los Angeles' Peacock Theater in straight-leg blue denims, a white T-shirt, black flats, a belt and sunglasses

Meg told Variety her jeans were Levi's and her shirt was Hanes and called for other stars to follow her lead.

She said: "I think people need to bring back jeans on the red carpet.

"They were in the '90s... there's no rules. You're allowed to do what you want."

The 34-year-old actress carried a black handbag bearing a label which read "cease fire!" and insisted it was important to use her platform to make a statement.

She said: "It's the most important to stick up for people and for peace... We have to use our platforms. What's the point of being at these big events if you're not going to use your privilege?"

The Too Much star previously told how she likes to "break the rules" with fashion on the red carpet and her stylist Kat Typaldos shares her enthusiasm.

She told People magazine: "Kat is so incredible, and we both are very much like, 'Let's do what we think is exciting.' We don't really go by the rules.

"It sounds really cliche, but we like to break the rules and wear stuff that we get excited about.

"To wear something that excites us is so much better than trying to fit in. We both are very creative and we're just a perfect match, because she never holds me back and never makes me feel like I'm in a box."

In July, Megan appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in a top she had made herself on the way to the talk show taping, putting one of her merch t-shirts - which read 'Meg Stalter is the prettiest girl in America' - onto a corset.

She said on the show: "Well so many people kept saying it, I thought it was probably time to put it on a damn shirt.

"I made it in the car. I sewed it on myself."
