Police are defending prosecuting the woman at the centre of the Jevon McSkimming scandal

An IPCA report's revealed serious issues with high-ranking officers failing to properly address sexual allegations against the then-Deputy Police Commissioner.

Police instead prosecuted the woman complainant for harassment over her emails - since withdrawing the charges.

The Herald's revealed she was still being prosecuted, accused of sending abusive emails to the officer running the initial prosecution.

Police Commissioner Richard Chambers says it would be inappropriate to comment on the charges' merits.

He says he's assured proper process has been followed.
