The hunt to haul in Robbie Manson is becoming more important by the day for Mahe Drysdale

The hunt to haul in Robbie Manson is becoming more important by the day for Mahe Drysdale

The double Olympic rowing champion will compete in the single sculls at this week's nationals at Lake Ruataniwha, with current New Zealand seat-holder Manson the man to beat.

Drysdale's yet to beat Manson in a competitive race since returning from a lengthy break at the start of last year, as he works towards his long-term goal of racing at the Tokyo Games.

He says the chance to win another national title also appeals and Manson provides world-class competition.

The national trials are early next month.
