It'll be the 30-year-old's third tour on the world stage since rejoining Bora-Hansgrohe in April, one that he regards as his toughest challenge of the year.
Archbold says although it's hard to measure his form at the moment, he feels in good nick.
He says he's done some smaller races where he's performed well, and is beginning to hit his peak.
Stage One of the tour gets underway tonight at 11:35.
