    A person has died after a serious crash in Northland


    The smash near Moerewa at 20 to 3 this afternoon has closed Sate Highway one.

    Police earlier said one person is in a serious condition and two others have minor injuries.

    Police say a large amount of traffic is building - and motorists are asked to avoid the area if possible.

    The section of the highway is expected to be closed for some time.
