A Wanaka community group is taking Queenstown Lakes District Council to the High Court

A Wanaka community group is taking Queenstown Lakes District Council to the High Court

Wanaka Stakeholders Group wants the Court to review the Council's decision to lease Wanaka Airport - to the Queenstown Airport Corporation.

Chair Michael Ross says the lease is a sale for all intents and purposes - which is both unlawful and unreasonable.

He says the Corporation now has the right to build and operate a jet-capable airport.

Ross says this was never disclosed to locals during consultations.
