    A fleeing driver is seriously injured after crashing into a tree in New Plymouth

    A fleeing driver is seriously injured after crashing into a tree in New Plymouth


    Officers were called to an assault at an Omata address just before 4am - where the man allegedly responsible for the assault fled in a car.

    He crashed a short time later, and was taken to Taranaki Base Hospital.

    Police say speed and alcohol are suspected to be factors in the crash.
