Popular summer hot spots can expect warm temperatures today

MetService is forecasting the North Island's eastern areas, and the likes of Central Otago in the South Island, to reach mid-to-high 20s.

Meteorologist Raveen Das says those temperatures are expected to spread to more of the country for New Year's Eve.

He says Waikato and Tauranga, south Canterbury and Central Otago could possibly reach the low 30s.
