The Western Bay of Plenty District mayor's concerned to see two deaths on the same street within days in Waihi Beach

The Western Bay of Plenty District mayor's concerned to see two deaths on the same street within days in Waihi Beach

A 21-year-old man's been charged with murder after another man was found dead on Seaforth Road last night.

A homicide investigation's also ongoing into the death of a 56-year-old nearby on the same road early on Wednesday morning.

Mayor Garry Webber says it's really sad to see it happen in the town, where the population swells 10-fold over summer.

Police are increasing their presence in the town and conducting reassurance patrols - but say there's no risk to the wider community and nothing to suggest the deaths are connected.
