A University of Otago researcher's new discovery could pave the way to treating heart disease

A University of Otago researcher's new discovery could pave the way to treating heart disease

Physiology professor Dr Martin Fronius has identified a new way drugs could regulate blood pressure.

Fronius says the body sends blood to areas that feel pressure and pain - and they've discovered that pressure's sensed by the connective tissue of cells.

Fronius says if researchers can create drugs to target this tissue - they could fight all kinds of diseases linked to poor circulation.
