Sun bathers on the East Coast next week - don't let the sun deceive you

Sun bathers on the East Coast next week - don't let the sun deceive you

The effects of tropical cyclone Tino will be felt across much of the North Island next week... but not by bringing bad weather.

The storm, which is expected to cause damage in Tonga today, makes its way to our shores tomorrow night.

WeatherWatch forecaster Philip Duncan says the storm won't be a cyclone when it hits New Zealand - but it'll be more deadly.

He says beaches along the whole east side from Sunday to Wednesday are likely to get some dangerous rips, currents and the odd rogue wave.
