Tiger Woods has been approached by an outfit known as the Premier Golf League and is gathering more information about a concept that could be a more lucrative alternative to the PGA Tour

The British-based World Golf Group last month unveiled plans for a new global tour it hopes to launch in 2022.

There would be 18 tournaments a year - each with prize money of $10 million - and feature 48 of the game's top players.

New Zealand cricket coach Gary Stead will return from his much-discussed "planned break" to a rejuvenated Black Caps side for the test series against India.

This summer the team has come off a win and a loss in respective test and T20 series against England, followed by three test losses to Australia and five T20 losses to India.

In Stead's absence they have beaten India 3-nil in an ODI series.

A special guest at Blues rugby training in Auckland this morning.

First five Beauden Barrett was an observer at training although he won't put on the boots for another couple of months.
