Virgin Australia is moving to close its New Zealand operations as it grounds nearly all its planes

The airline will temporarily stand down approximately eight-thousand of its 10-thousand Australian workers until at least the end of May.
It will commence consultation on a proposal to close its New Zealand cabin crew and pilot base.
It employs about 200 pilots and 260 cabin crew here.
