Life in the covid19 hotbed of Northern Italy is proving challenging for kiwi footballer Niko Kirwan

Life in the covid19 hotbed of Northern Italy is proving challenging for kiwi footballer Niko Kirwan

The 24 year old plays for Reggiana in the Italian Serie C, and after one of his team mates tested positive for the virus, he was forced to spend a fortnight in quarantine away from his home in Treviso.

Kirwan is home now and has tested negative, however as he explains, while their lockdown is similar to New Zealand's with visits to the supermarket and pharmacy allowed, theirs has a sting in the tail.

Niko Kirwan's team-mate passed the virus on to his grandparents, and his nana subsequently passed away.
