    Air New Zealand is warning its staff it's about to embark on a process to shed 3500 jobs

    The airline says its revenue will fall from its current $5.8 billion a year to $500 million a year, and it cannot sustain such losses without major cost cutting,

    He says the airline can only get back to anything approaching its current level if Kiwis embrace domestic travel after the Level 4 alert is lifted.

    The airline says it will be much smaller when the crisis is over and it may take many years to get back to its current size.
