The [Northern Amalgamated Workers Union has called for help to introduce forestry quotas and regulation to prevent "foreign-driven forest obliteration" after the lockdown.
Infrastructure minister Shane Jones says he wants to help kiwis first.
He says we can't generate jobs in the Bay of Plenty, East coast and Northland with no access to raw material and a certain supply of logs.
Jones has put the message out to his officials to work with the international investors who own the forests of New Zealand.
