A man who allegedly attempted to abduct a child in south Auckland on Thursday, is due in court today

A man who allegedly attempted to abduct a child in south Auckland on Thursday, is due in court today

Police were called after a man tried to grab a child's hand while they walked to Favona Primary School with their parent.

A 21-year-old was arrested and charged with assault yesterday, following a 24-hour man hunt.

Detective Senior Sergeant Tom Gollan has thanked the public for their help in tracking down the suspect.

He says it appears to be an isolated event - and wants to reassure the community there is no wider risk.
