Heavy snow is continuing to cause disruption to roads across the country

The Desert Road is closed -- with MetService forecasting two to four centimetres of snow above 600 metres between 2am and midday today.
The main detour road -- State Highway 49 between Tohanga Junction and Waiouru --- is also closed due to snow.
The only remaining diversion -- State Highway 4 -- has also been closed after a a truck rolled south of Raetihi, blocking the road.
The Taihape to Napier Road is closed -- and roads on Canterbury's Banks Peninsula are only open to four wheel drives.
Snow is also forecast for the Remutaka Hill Road and eastern parts of Lewis Pass Road.
