    The road between Tauranga and Rotorua is closed following a serious crash


    One person is in a critical condition, after two vehicles collided on State Highway 36 at Pyes Pa.

    North-bound traffic is being diverted at Oropi Gorge Road -- with heavy traffic being diverted via Te Matai Road.

    South-bound traffic is being diverted at the Kennedy Road roundabout.

    The Police Serious Crash Unit is at the scene, and motorists are being asked to avoid the area.
