The former English teacher was jailed for two years last month after pleading guilty to five sexual charges.
They included sending porn to the 15-year-old-victim and driving across the North Island to assault her on her family holiday.
His defense has argued publishing his name would make him suicidal and could harm his family.
The Crown prosecutor told the court the victim did not want him to have name suppression, and argued embarrassment for an offender's family is part of natural justice.
