The North Island is in for some rough weather today

The North Island is in for some rough weather today

A low pressure system west of Northland is dragging down moisture-laden air from the subtropics .

Heavy rain and gale force northeasterlies will hit the region this morning before moving further south.

Northland's under a heavy rain warning, while Auckland and the Coromandel Peninsula are on watch.

Bay of Plenty and Waikato can also expect wet and windy weather.
