Michael Angus Murray was sentenced today in the Hamilton District Court, on a charge of careless driving causing the death of one-year-old Lilah Brooks.
The toddler was struck multiple times by Murray's vehicle, as he did a three point turn out of the driveway he shared with her parents last December.
Despite not being related, Murray was close to the family.
Lilah's grandmother, Joy, was in the car, and immediately gave the child first aid.
Murray has been sentenced to three months' community detention, 100 hours' community work and is disqualified from driving for 15 months.
