The current laws don't deter a vast majority of students from using cannabis

The current laws don't deter a vast majority of students from using cannabis

The University of Otago has published findings that show while recreational cannabis is illegal, it's normalised in the student culture.

Co-author Dr Kirsten Robertson says 93 per cent of the 535 students spoken to said the law doesn't put them off consuming the drug.

Many students simply didn't care that cannabis was illegal and felt it was difficult and unlikely to get caught.
