Tapualii Raewyn Uitime was charged with forgery and dishonestly using a document as operations manager for the Pacific Island Safety and Prevention Project.
The 49-year-old has been sentenced to just over two years in jail at the Manukau District Court.
Serious Fraud Office director Julie Read says Uitime abused her position of trust to steal a significant amount of public funds, meant for family support, counselling and family violence education.
She says Uitime spent the money for her own benefit over several years, including on gambling.
