Crown responses at redress hearings for the Abuse In Care Royal Commission Inquiry continue today.
It was revealed yesterday that just shy of 77-million-dollars went into resolving claims between 2007 and June 2019.
More than half went to operational costs, while claimant settlements totaled about 30-million.
Senior Social Development Ministry official Simon MacPherson says cases have shown going to the High Court's not the right approach.
He says there's a strong need for a process that doesn't rely on going to court ... because it's expensive, and difficult for everyone involved.
