The NBA has a start date for its next season

Organisers and the Players Association have tentatively agreed on a start date of December 22 - allowing the NBA to capitalise on its financially successful Christmas day scheduling.

The competition will reduce its regular season from 82 games to 72, with the play-off schedule to be over by the time the Olympics start in July.
