The Argentine legend played at four World Cups and led his country to victory in 1986.
In the quarter-final against England he scored the infamous goal he described as "a little with his head, and a little with the hand of God".
Years later, England striker Gary Lineker interviewed him about the incident.
He followed it up four minutes later with one of the World Cup's greatest feats.
Maradona died two weeks after being released from hospital following surgery for a blood clot on the brain.
He was 60.
