Chrissy Teigen is "downsizing" her Thanksgiving this year

The 34-year-old star - who tragically lost her baby boy, Jack, in October - and her husband John Legend plan to shift their attention away from food this holiday because she is "tired" of over-catering and seeing so much go to waste

She told People magazine: "I just don't have it in me! I've been doing this for 10 years with John and his family now, and I think I've gotten a little tired of just seeing so much food go to waste. I go way too hard with way too many sides.

"We're just going to do the staples, and it's going to be beautiful and we're going to watch football. We're downsizing a little bit!"

Instead, the 'Lip Sync Battle' star - who has Luna, four, and Miles, two, with John - wants to spend more of the day enjoying quality time with her family, rather than being holed up in the kitchen.

She said: "We're making it much more about enjoying the time with [family]. I don't want to wake up at four in the morning the entire week anymore to get [the meal] done. I want to enjoy the meal with my family while they're enjoying it."

Meanwhile, John recently praised his wife for being "so courageous" over the last year.

He said: "I'm thankful for my wife, first of all. She's been so courageous and been through so much this year. Knowing that we have each other has been really buoying for me. It’s made me just appreciate what we have together - our family. I'm so appreciative of that. When you make a commitment to be with someone through sickness and health, sometimes life will test that and really challenge you. I feel like it's made us stronger.”

Chrissy then added she’s been able to stay strong because of her and John’s other children as she knows they will “get through this together” as a family.

She added: "I have these two toddlers running around that need me and need me to be happy and give them hugs all day. I have a husband that needs love. I have people that just take such good care of me, and we're all going to get through this together.”
