Alex Rodriguez wants to finally get married to Jennifer Lopez this year

The 45-year-old baseball player and 51-year-old singer got engaged in March 2019 after two years together, and A-Rod is hoping they will tie the knot in 2021, after putting back their nuptials twice in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic

Appearing on 'The Tonight Show' via video link, he said: "We tried twice in 2020. We got bit twice by COVID-19.

"You know, they say in baseball, 'Third time's the charm,' so let's hope…"

Meanwhile, Alex heaped praise on his partner while chatting to Jimmy Fallon on Monday (18.01.21), and admitted she is nervous about playing at Joe Biden's inauguration celebration this week.

He added: "It's been such a crazy year for her. So amazing. So many blessings. But to think, in the span of 12 months, she's done the Super Bowl, New Year's, now the inaugural.

"It's unbelievable. And what's interesting is she's most nervous about Washington, D.C., because of the responsibility.

"She wants more than anything, like all of us, to bring people together. To inspire.

"And you know music and sports does that better than anything. And she has something really cool. You're gonna be surprised. You're gonna love it."

The couple originally planned to wed in Italy last summer but had to cancel their big day because of restrictions, and they recently revealed they also shelved a second celebration.

However, Jennifer doesn't seem to be feeling the same sense of urgency to get married as soon as possible, and she's worried the loved up couple won't manage to "re-create" their dream wedding.

She recently explained: "We postponed the wedding twice. We had planned what we really, really wanted to do, [but] I don’t know if we’ll be able to re-create that.

"We cancelled it, and since then we haven’t really talked about it. There’s no rush.

"We want to do it right when we can do it. We just have to wait to see where the world lands.”
