Rachael Blackmore has made sporting history by becoming the first woman jockey to ride the winner of the Grand National, the world's greatest steeplechase horse race

The 31-year-old Irish rider has steered Minella Times to glory at Aintree, in 11-1 odds.

Blackmore is the 20th female jockey to compete in a race that has been a mud- splattered British sporting institution since 1839.

Women have only been allowed to enter the National as jockeys since 1975
