The business sector argues our economy can't grow without migrant workers

The business sector argues our economy can't grow without migrant workers

Stuart Nash has announced an "immigration reset", saying we need to stop relying on low-wage migrants -- and focus on bringing in highly-skilled workers.

Business New Zealand Chief Executive Kirk Hope says attracting overseas investment is important.

But, he says we also need a workforce that meets the needs of business.

Kirk Hope says skill shortages are already hitting New Zealand businesses, in a range of sectors.

He says it's disappointing the Government is saying migration suppresses wages.
