Snow has turned to rain in the deep south

An arctic blast ripped through the South Island yesterday dumping 20 centimetres of snow on the road from Te Anau to Milford.

A small convoy was briefly allowed back in yesterday afternoon - but the road was closed again overnight

MetService is predicting rain easing to showers this afternoon for Milford - and the same weather for western Fiordland and south of Gore.
