Plenty of Kiwi pride for Billy Stairmand despite failing to qualify directly into the third round of the men's surfing at the Olympic Games

    - article from www.rugbyleague.co.nz

He's come third in his heat with a score of 9-point-97, meaning he will now compete in an elimination heat later today.

Stairmand's become the first New Zealander to surf at the Olympics, and says it was a special moment when he was introduced.

Fellow Kiwi surfer Ella Williams is in action in the women's competition from 4pm.
